ROB COLEMAN

Newport News City Council Candidate

Throughout his tenure in law enforcement, Rob was driven by a desire to effect positive change, eventually rising to the rank of Major and assuming the role of Operations Bureau Chief for the Sheriff’s Office. He played a crucial role in devising and implementing advanced operational strategies and contributed significantly to committees aimed at bolstering public safety and community well-being.

After dedicating over 25 years to service, Rob retired from the Newport News Sheriff’s Office to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula. In his current capacity, Rob leads a team of committed youth development professionals responsible for the safety, security, and social-emotional growth of over 1000 children across the Peninsula.

Beyond his professional commitments, Rob's dedication to community service shines through his involvement with various organizations, including the Newport News Police Foundation, People 2 People, Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula, Alternatives, Inc., and initiatives supporting vulnerable women and children. His unwavering commitment to these causes reflects his deeply ingrained belief in giving back and making a meaningful difference.

At the core of Rob's life are his family—his wife Jamie, son Jacob, and his strong ties to his parents and three brothers. Overall, Rob Coleman's narrative epitomizes dedication, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of others in Newport News through both his professional endeavors and community engagement.
